I think last time I posted I said something about trying to post weekly... well, what's the saying... the road to hell is paved with good intentions? Anyway, a little run down of the past and we can move on to the (more exciting) present and near future... 


Last week was AwesomeCon and I think I am still tired from it. For months I had told myself that I pretty much had everything ready and wouldn't need to turn into a whirling dervish at the last minute. I don't what the hell I was thinking. It was down to the wire getting everything done... the usual staying up to 1am the night before to finish sewing comics, finishing stringing ornaments at the table. Oh and not finishing the lit'le mushroom gals until the convention was in full swing. They sold very quickly and unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take a decent photograph of them. But I am going to start a few new ones... which is a good segue into what's going on now...

I am very excited for the next event I have coming up. I will be at the Amuse Art Fair in Winchester, VA on May 26 & 27. I am so pumped for this because it's the first time (well, in recent history at least) I will be doing something that is located where I live. I am use to either not being able to attend because it's much too far or having to travel. Even AwesomeCon which is somewhat "local" is still a good two hours from where I live. Having to plan travel and accommodations is huge cause of stress and it's such a relief knowing my house is only minutes away. I am also really looking forward to meeting other locals involved in the arts. Since moving here a year and some change ago, I haven't really been much of a social creature. My sense of time is awful and I (willing admit) can be flighty as hell, which makes for difficulty in making social plans. If you are considering coming in for the event (and you should!), but are not familiar with this fantastic little city please do not hesitate to shoot me an e-mail. I'd be more than happy to give you recommendations on where to stay, eat, and play! In the spirit of my excitement and the change of seasons I want to work on some new pieces within a theme of renewal and fertility. that will be available at the fair. The Ovum Mimic (pictured) I just finished will be part of this set and I am starting on at least one more of those. Progress photos will be posted as I go. Instagram really gets to see the bulk of these as it's so easy for me to update it. 

On last thing, on the topic of an online shop. I took my Etsy shop down a while ago as I became disillusioned with the site after some changes they made. I will be re-opening a shop through another avenue this spring. The soft timeline for that is immediately after the fair, so end of May. In the meantime, if you are looking for an original sculpt piece, there are two available for online sale through galleries. They are linked in the shop section of my website. 

Well, it has been a very long time since I last did a post. I am not really sure why. I think it just comes down to still not figuring out a good balance between art and motherhood. No matter what I do, I can't help but feel a sense of dreadful guilt. And while I have been working on pieces, I have let staying on top of posting (outside of on Instagram which doesn't require much effort/time) fall by the wayside. I'd like to say I have things organized now and figured out - but I don't. I don't think I ever will. By nature I am a bit of a unstructured mess. But I am going to put in extra effort to devise a better daily system so I can get back to updating weekly on the blog and monthly on the newsletter. 

With all that out of the way, there are two events coming up for March. First, my piece "Study of Persistence" will be part of the anniversary group show at Cactus Gallery in L.A. opening on March 10th. She will be available for sale through the gallery.

Later in the month I will be at Awesome Con in Washington DC. I don't have a table number yet, but will do an update when I find out. It runs March 30 - April 1. I will have some mimics, ornaments, prints, and homemade comics. Again, I'll post an update with some pictures of the full spread when it gets closer to the event. 

I have done an atrocious job of keeping up with the blog and newsletter... and pretty much everything outside of Instagram. I just haven't had the time... or more accurately, I haven't made the time, I have been a ball of chaos all summer and now with fall approaching, I am going to bring myself back to living slightly more structured, 
There is a lot to report, so this will be a rather long post.

First, I will have a piece called "Vessel" in the upcoming group show "Heart's Blood". It's curated by Beautiful Bizarre Magazine at the Haven Gallery in Northport, NY. It opens September 16th (this coming Saturday!). I will be at the opening. You may send purchase inquiries to [email protected]

Second, I will have another piece, "Dyad", in the group show "Hide & Seek".. It is curated by the fantastically talented and all around lovely Marie Larkin at the Weswal Gallery in Tamworth NSW. It opens October 15th. Here is a teaser photo of her - I will post more about her as it gets closer to the opening.

Third, Hobbes Holluck and I will have a table at the Baltimore Comic Con this year. It spans three days: September 22 - 24. I will have a few dolls, ornaments, two small homemade comics and Hobbes will have his comic, Fuzzbuquet, for sale. In the next week I'll post some images of what I will have available as well as our table number. 

I will be at Awesome Con this weekend (June 3rd through the 5th). If you’re in Washington DC, stop on by to watch me sew while nervously avoiding eye contact. 
I will be debuting the vermilion & honey mimics, a slew of ornaments, and a homemade comic.
